It was my wife’s idea. She already frequents this Chinese medicine for cure and prevention. What the heck. I’ll give it a shot. It can’t hurt. Or can it?

The acupuncturist explained everything. She’s very nice for someone that winces with you when she needles a tender spot. Apparently, this form of ancient medicine is known to help those with Bells Palsy.

Overall, the experience was good. I had to remove my shoes and socks. I laid down on my back. I was needled. Most of them didn’t hurt and if they did, it was only going in. She left me there, with the lights out, well needled and in moderate comfort – with spa music playing.

So, did it work? Too early to tell. I’m going back in two days. Probably three days a week. I’m willing to give it a go. I’ll let you know if it helps.

By the way, there is more to it. I mean, it’s a very developed medicine and I’m told the Bells Palsy can be brought on by “wind.” Spiritual and actual. So, I was asked if I’m near any real wind. Air conditioners or fans. Um. Perhaps? I have a fan on my right side (my Bells Palsy side this time around) at work. I have one by my reading/TV chair at home. Again, the right side. I have one next to the bed; the side depends on my sleeping habits. So, there could be something to this. Why do I have so many fans? My wife prefers a hotter climate so keeps the air turned up (78-80F). And the noise helps me fall asleep faster.

I guess no more fans. At least not for now. I’ll have to compensate somehow. I have a Nest (nest.com) thermostat downstairs. So, I can change the temp from my iPad or iPhone. I’ll need to get the one upstairs replaced. Then we can have a iPad war, both still in bed, with the thermostat!
