Or rather, dark. We have spoken about\u00a0technical jargon that has disappeared over the decades as new technology takes it\u2019s place. But, even the new stuff is disappearing. And more quickly than in the past. It was only introduced about 2 yrs ago. A cloud-based desktop\u00a0photo display \u2013 it would store and update photos\u00a0wirelessly from\u00a0synced devices (phones & tablets). You could be anywhere in the world and take a picture with your phone, and it would show up on the Lyve Home. Plus, it\u2019s built-in\u00a02Tb hard drive would act as a backup for these photos as well.<\/p>\n<p>Alas, I had bought one. I also received the offer\u00a0in the fall of 2016 to receive a free 2Tb portable hard drive from Seagate\u00a0as a consolation. Better than nothing.<\/p>\n<p>But, think about it. What does this really mean? It means that new technology we\u00a0reach out to today, can disappear almost tomorrow. This adds\u00a0yet another consideration (aside from\u00a0the ever present issue of security) when\u00a0adopting new tech, new gadgets, new cloud-based services.\u00a0Seagate is a big company \u2013 so don\u2019t just consider the company behind it \u2013 it\u2019s only a matter of time.<\/p>\n<p>So, goodbye Lyve Home. We\u00a0hardly knew ye.
